Environmentally conscious people are finding ways to bring their green practices into their homes, even ones they don’t own. No more ‘the grass is greener on the other side.’ More and more apartment and condo renters are finding ways to make their residence more eco-friendly, even with heavy restrictions placed on them by apartment owners and managers.

As green projects are becoming more common place for newly built multi-unit housing, tenants have borrowed ideas such as LED lighting, programmable thermostats, medical grade HEPA filtration and in some cases organic paints to contribute to a more eco-friendly home environment.

Owners and managers can find benefit in this popular movement by allowing tenants to participate in making ‘green’ upgrades themselves and/or fulfilling requests from tenants to make eco-friendly changes. The upside can create more value; both perceived and actual.
