Commercial Real Estate and Mobile Technology- Nov 7, 2008
While many accuse commercial real estate practitioners to be living the the Dinosaur Ages, there are some cutting edge technologies and marketing happening out there. In a diversion from our usual discussion here, I’m bringing you another new technology happening. ffice or retail space could be a text away.
In a late October the San Francisco Business Time carried a story about commercial real estate firms experimenting with mobile technology. Businesses interested in particular office or retail space have had the information at their fingertips thanks to a service offered by a St. Louis commercial real estate firm. Lease seekers have had the opportunity to use text messages to receive property-specific information in under a minute.
The text messages contain pricing, sq. footage figures and broker contact information. The texts also provide a hyperlink to www.loopnet.com, where interested parties can also view pictures, leasing info and other key details.
Colliers Turley Martin Tucker (CTMT)’s Marketing Manager Sarah Stiehr said this mobile marketing allows potential clients to collect information on their own schedule. Commercial real estate Brokers also benefit because they can see who is interested in what information and use this to more accurately follow-up with clients.
