Apartment Trends and Style
A few tips to consider if you are considering any remodeling or updating of your apartments in 2009 are mentioned in Units magazine (Nov. 2008). In order to cheer up our moods from the dismal economic environment of 2008, fashion and trends watchers are predicting that yellow will be a desired look in interior design (as well as on runways) in 2009. I’ve read in other places that this color is associated with happiness and can help boost our moods.
I wouldn’t go changing the color of shirts for your staff just yet, but the article suggests adding a splash of yellow on one wall of your model units and/or somewhere in your lobby or reception area where prospective and current residents are greeted. Specific shades mentioned are citron yellow. One company is promoting their St. Elmo’s Fire #362 shade.
Another tip from the apartmentmarketingblog.com is regarding what NOT to do. The colors mauve and baby blue are completely dated and also finishes should be silver, not gold or brass. Other tips include updating single sinks to double sinks, updating closets from the single wooden rod feature to something more useful including shelves and compartments. Butcher block countertops are out as well as thick carpeting. So why do I see so many apartment owners still updating apartments with these same looks?
