According to an article in the November 2008 issue of Multifamily Executive, single women are a key demographic apartment owners should be courting. Of the 14.9 million single women ages 20 to 34, nearly 41% are renters. This Gen Y subgroup has specific tastes and smart apartment owners will look for ways to attract this important group to their properties.

As a whole, these single women tend to be better savers and more educated than the Gen Y males. In order to attract them, apartment owners should work harder to understand the unique needs and wants of this demographic.

Forward-thinking apartment owners are tailoring their designs across media to appeal to these Gen Y single women. From colors, to styles, to apartment amenities can all appeal to these women seeking to live in a community that matches their lifestyles.
